I’m a bag addict. There, I’ve admitted it. Is that my first step to recovery? Lord, I hope not because I enjoy being a bag addict! Vera Bradley has quickly become my favorite designer of bags and when I heard they were coming out with a baby line never in a million years did I think it would include items for ME (and other mamas!). BUT, baby diaper bags are for mamas, too and leave it to Vera Bradley to design some perfect bags for baby!

If you’ve not looked at my review of the dress and bloomers from Vera Bradley, please do! This is an absolutely adorable dress and showcases the beauty of this new baby line! The line includes not only bags and the dress/bloomers, but also  blankets, layette sets, bodysuits, soft shoes, bunnies and more! It is definitely a great addition to their lineup and so many things (or all of them) from the baby line make perfect gifts for baby showers! We received the Convertible Baby Bag for review purposes and upfront I have to admit this has become my favorite diaper bag…and I’ve used a lot!

The outside of the bag is stunning. It’s very functional as a mama with two toddlers. There is a pocket on each end (perfect for those last minute items you grab or even two sippy cups or bottles) and a front pocket. The front pocket contains a changing pad but can also be used for mama’s items like a wallet, phone, keys, etc. It has a magnetic closure and keeps your items secure.

Inside Goodness

Inside the mesh pockets are priceless! I love the light green color that coordinates with the bag and that they allow for super-easy organization! It’s easy to see through and find things in these pockets and with there being six pockets total you can really separate your items into the desired locations!

I love that the inside pattern is different, yet very similar. It’s gorgeous and the fact that it is a wipeable material just sends this bag over-the-top in quality and functionality. The bag is also machine washable, another important feature for a bag to be used with babies/toddlers!

Vera Bradley doesn’t disappoint in the attention to detail category. Their bags are not only fully functional and perfect for mama and baby, but the extra details are appreciated! The signature ribbons on the zippers are always a favorite of mine on my Vera Bradley products and the changing pad has added color with the same pattern as the bag! The changing pad itself is waterproof on the outside and a warm/soft terrycloth in the inside for baby to lay on.

Convertible You Say?

Finally, I bet you’ve been wondering why this bag is called a “convertible” baby bag? It’s perfect for all mamas because it can be carried in so many different ways! So, whatever way you are comfy, this bag has you covered! You can carry it over your shoulder, across your body, as a backpack and even by hand! It converts into just what you want and need!

As I said earlier, this bag has turned into my favorite diaper bag! It’s so versatile and gorgeous that I just don’t want to carry anything else! My husband and I both remember friends and family members who had to suffer through having braces to straighten their teeth when they were teens. I personally recall a friend who was often made fun of because of her “metal mouth” and I felt for her and watched her cry over the humiliation and pain of braces. As adults, we’ve also had friends who needed straightening options and we’ve had a few friends chose to go with something called Invisalign.

Today’s braces are more sophisticated than ever. Gone are the days of “wrap around” metal brackets, bonded brackets and big clunky head and neck gears. You’ve probably noticed a few posts recently about me discussing the importance of our family saving money and cutting our budget right now. There have been some changes in our income and I am learning even more ways to cut expenses. I thought I was pretty ok at couponing before…I’ve gotten better! There are also some other things I’ve learned we can reduce in our budget, one being our cell phone bill. With having three phones on our plan and all three of us using text and internet VERY often, it is important to us that we all have unlimited plans, or very close to it! When I first started looking at our cell phone bill in more detail I quickly discovered we were far from getting the lowest price rate plan that we could get so I have some work to do for that part of the budget!

With our current cell phone coverage, we have three cell phones. We do have unlimited talk and text, however, our web browsing is limited. After years of paying what seemed to be the norm, I guess I just never imagined there were cheap wireless plans out there! We currently pay about $215 per month for three cell phones. After learning more about Walmart’s Family Mobile Plans I was thrilled to know that we could save nearly $100 per month if we changed all three lines to their service! That is a huge savings and since our contract is soon to be up, I am discussing this change with my darling husband right now! He’s thinking about it…he’s been with our current provider for about 12 years so it’s hard for him to change but I’m working on him!

Another reason I am looking to change my cell phone provider is that I’ve been having troubles with my current phone. I have an older model iPhone, however, it was a refurbished model when I got it so I often wonder if the problems lie there. I plan on attending two blogging conferences later this year (still looking for a sponsor for one, but the other is for sure since it’s local) and I want to be sure I have a reliable phone with me in case hubby needs to reach me in regards to the kids. The money savings and the reliability have me considering the change to Walmart Family Mobile!

Visiting Walmart Wireless

Did you know that Walmart offers cellular service without a contract? Their unlimited plans offer the lowest price rate plan I have found at just $40 per month for unlimited talk, text AND 1 GB of data at 3G speeds! That’s right! You read that correctly…talk, text and web! That’s an amazing price, right? It gets even better if you get additional lines through Walmart Family Mobile…they are just $35 each! And, if you need more than 1GB of data you can upgrade for a very reasonable price!

T-Mobile My Touch Phone

We received this T-Mobile My Touch phone to get started. The phone is GREAT! It’s a smart phone and has a touch screen. After using an iPhone previously I do have to say it’s an adjustment to get used to an Android phone, but I am happy to have this chance! I am relived that I’ll have a reliable phone to take to my conferences later this year and I’ll be able to easily Tweet and give Facebook updates while there! Another great thing about Walmart Family Mobile is that you can buy a phone at a local Walmart, or you can bring your own phone if you already have one! There is only one other thing needed besides the phone and we took a trip to our local Walmart and purchased this Family Mobile Starter Kit for just $25. to get started! I do wish though that the Wireless center at our local Walmart had more associates because the one there was assisting a customer in setting up service and it was quite a wait. Once I did get help though, the associate was super helpful and friendly!

After taking the Starter Kit home and opening both the phone and the starter kit, the phone was up and running within 10 minutes! It was very simple to follow the included directions for set up and my new My Touch phone was fully functioning and ready to go! I was so excited!

Our Answer: Affordable, Unlimited Plans

Walmart Family Mobile and their unlimited plans seem to be a great answer for our family. You’ve seen our bill (above) and at just $40 per month ($35 for additional lines) for unlimited plans this is a great savings for us! The savings is definitely a determining factor, but knowing that I’ll have a reliable phone that I can use for social media access at conferences as well as be readily available if my husband needs to contact me is the peace of mind I need and appreciate!

What excites you most about Walmart’s Family Mobile Service? My two favorites things are the lowest price rate plan and the unlimited plans! Can’t beat that! Thanks, Walmart!

A few months back I saw some hints of a baby line being posted on Vera Bradley’s Instagram account. In case you don’t know, I’ve become an IG lover in the past few months! I’m all about it, so of course Vera Bradley was a company I started following early since I have an addiction obsession a true love for their products. This love of Vera Bradley started a few years back when I first reviewed some items for them. After that, it was over. My husband has seen lists of stuff I want from Vera Bradley for each and every holiday and birthday since! Back to Instagram…I saw Vera Bradley posting some hints of a baby line and I stalked followed them on social media like a crazy girl! When they finally introduced their new baby (line) I couldn’t have been more excited, especially since this baby included clothing that would be perfect for baby girls we have our long awaited baby girl now!

We received the Dress and Bloomers in Lilli Bell for review and let me just say first of all that it comes in the perfect packaged box, perfect for baby showers or any gift giving! Right now, the dress is available in two patterns: Lilli Bell and Tutti Frutti and retails for $49. The Lilli Bell print is perfect for spring and summer style for baby girls! The colors are vibrant, gorgeous and it’s full of flowers! The dress is incredibly soft and flowy and I can imagine just how comfy it is! I wish they made these in adult sizes!! <3 The sizes it is available in though are 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months and 9-12 months. Addy is now 15 months though and the 9-12 month dress fits her GREAT! I am so thankful because I’ve fallen so in love with this dress that I don’t want her wardrobe to be without it! I honestly need to beg Vera Bradley to come out with a toddler line because before I know it, this will be too small and my heart will be breaking!

Just taking it out of the box I was in love with it, but the more I looked at the detail in this dress and the bloomers it was evident that Very Bradley had just created the answer to most women’s prayers and it was for baby!! Vera Bradley created comfortable, stylish, super soft and high quality clothing! The sleeves on this dress are priceless! They are short sleeves perfect for warmer weather, however, the cute factor about the sleeves is how they ruffle on the ends and almost stand up and out for that added touch! The bloomers have ruffles across the back and are just too much! The cute factor has been nailed by Vera Bradley Baby and I couldn’t be happier! This line is absolutely one of my favorites!

There have been some recent changes in my job that have caused our household monthly budget to need adjusting. It’s been challenging finding ways to reduce certain expenses. You’ve noticed one change recently: I changed my blog emails from Mad Mimi to Feedburner to prevent a monthly fee. Every little bit counts, right? Another thing I’ve been working on recently is how to reduce the monthly costs of our grocery and household items. I’ve started using many more coupons than I used to, and I’ve also started purchasing larger quantities of items, such as bath tissue and paper towels! Both LA and Addy were off of their schedules while we were out of town! LA was SO tired but never wanted to sleep since we were at Grandma’s house!

I think Addy was pretty tired, too, in this picture! She did enjoy the “new” toys at Grandmas house though! She was checking them all out…and this one very carefully!

The kids adore grandma and had so much fun with her! I have to say, they have great taste!! My mom is pretty incredible! <3

For All You Love, For All You Are, Nana

My mother-in-law is one of the most amazing women I’ve ever met. She is a strong mother and wife and has a heart of gold platinum. She’s been married to her husband (my father-in-law) for 50 years and my husband and I are thankful for having them as role models on having a great marriage. My husband has never said/expressed one negative thing about his mother and has so many great stories and memories of her caring and unconditional ways. I enjoy hearing his stories so much, you see, because my mother-in-law had a stroke not long before my husband and I met. Although she’s been blessed and has recovered almost fully, she is still unable to have full conversations. I can’t imagine her frustration and what she must go through dealing with that frustration daily. As a mother and a grandmother she shows all that she loves and it is clear how much she adores her grandchildren. No matter how tired she is, no matter what she has going on at church or anywhere else, she makes time for her grandchildren. She helps us out every week and watches them, no questions asked. She is happy to spend time with them and it’s very apparent that they brighten her days, and the feelings are beyond mutual. As I said, “nana” can’t express her thoughts as easily as others can, but there is no misunderstanding her love. Both Addy and LA adore her. I mean, they seriously cannot get enough of her! She finds a way to not only communicate with them, but she has created such a strong, unbreakable bond with them! I admire her for being the Christian woman that she is. I admire her for being the amazing wife of 50+ years to her husband. I admire her for being the phenomenal mother she has always and continues to be to my husband and his siblings. I admire her for her great accomplishments as a grandmother and the unconditional love she exudes. Lastly, I admire her for her strength and for getting through every day without complaints, without struggle and with such peace and grace. I love and thank you, nana! You are the true definition of love.

Here is how it works: Remember those emails that used to go around all the time, the ones that were like 20 questions about you and you were supposed to answer them and email to all of your friends to let them learn new things about you? Well, we are bringing them back with a twist!

In today’s busy world sometimes we don’t get to know people as well as we would like to so Eco Baby Mama Drama and I thought we would bring back a fun getting to know you weekly feature.

We will post three questions and give up to three answers for each question to let you learn more about us. You see many reviews from us so we want to give you the chance to learn other things about the green gals behind the reviews! Hopefully you learn some fun facts and aren’t too shocked!

Prom…Who did I go with? What did I wear? Details…

When I was in high school, my boyfriend lived in another state because he was away at college. It was a long distance relationship and we were actually together for three years, which is impressive at that young age! LOL I grew up in a small town in Ohio and it was not diverse at all. My boyfriend was an African American and didn’t feel comfortable taking me to my prom in an all white school so one of my best friends that I grew up with ended up taking me. Mike was the guy next door (literally, he lived right next to us!) and he and I had been friends since elementary school. He didn’t have a date and since we were great friends we went together! I wore a beautiful emerald green sequin gown that I STILL have and refuse to get rid of although I’ll NEVER fit into that thing again! LOL We had a great time at prom, stayed up all night and then went to Cedar Point (an amusement park in Ohio) the next day!

First long trip in the car that I can remember?

First long trip that I was old enough to remember? We drove from Ohio to Arizona one summer. I was about 13 and it was a great trip! We saw a lot, stopped at many, many places on the way and the way back.

A Date I’d Love to Go on with Hubby?

If I had the chance to plan a dream date with hubby, what would I do? Well, I’d make it a FULL day since we don’t get much time alone together. Since I love eating out, I’d start with breakfast out at one of our favorite restaurants. After breakfast, I’d love to go horseback riding. I haven’t done that in years and it truly is a passion of mine. After horseback riding, I’d love to spend time in a state park walking, talking and capturing photos. We both enjoy photography and in different ways. We see the “art” of photography differently and together we bring out so much in each other’s passion for photography. I’d love some time with him to enjoy that with our new camera. After that, we’d have lunch at Benihana because we both love that place!!! After lunch, we would go get a couples massage and then visit a local casino just for some out of the ordinary fun. After that, dinner at a quiet, dimmly lit restaurant with some dancing and if we could throw in a Josh Groban concert to end the night it would be perfect! <3 Ok, so that would be perfect for me….I don’t think hubby would enjoy every moment of that! LOL AND, that’s a VERY long day FULL of fun!
