Our Day at the Detroit Zoo

My husband asked me what I wanted to do for Mother’s Day this year and I think he was surprised by my answer. I wanted to go to our local zoo with the kids. We’ve not been to the zoo in a few years, which is sad because we only live about 30 minutes from our local AZA accredited zoo, the Detroit Zoo.

This post was done in partnership with Stonyfield. All opinions are 100% my own and are not influenced in any way.

Our Visit to the Detroit Zoo

We went early in the day and the weather was a bit cool. I was thinking that might be a good thing when it came to seeing animals as it wouldn’t be too hot.

My girl wanted her picture taken with the monkey. She loved being out and about for this new adventure. The last time we went to the zoo she was a small toddler.

We saw all kinds of animals and the kids loved all of them. The kangaroos were hanging out and were fun to see. There was a path that allowed us to walk right through their area.

They loved the polar bear and sea lion exhibits. There was also a cool area where they could sit for the above picture.

We spent a lot of time in this area. Annie loved watching the sea lions swim around. She got so excited when they got close to her.

The polar bears were outside walking around. One was just relaxing in a corner. They are beautiful animals! We had an amazing time at the zoo. It’s really fun to see the kids’ expressions and reactions when they see certain things. We plan on going back a few more times this summer and want to focus on just a few things so we can really enjoy those things without worrying about seeing everything. Next time I think we’ll focus on seeing the penguins, butterflies and feeding the giraffes. It’s difficult to see everything in one trip when you have four little ones. Thankful that we’ll be able to save money with Stonyfield’s offer this summer!

Get Tickets to your AZA Accredited Zoo or Aquarium

Don’t forget! I wrote about this not long ago, but as part of a year-long effort, Stonyfield will not only be contributing funds to field work but aiming to drive kids and their families to see animals and conservation projects first hand at zoos, aquariums, and on the ground where the research is happening. The lovable African Penguin and most endangered AZA SAFE species will be featured prominently on Stonyfield YoKids packaging this year. Stonyfield YoKids is also featuring an on-pack offer to get families out to visit any of the 131 participating AZA accredited member zoos and aquariums. Now through the end of September buy two specially-marked YoKids yogurt multipacks and you’ll receive a FREE kid’s admission to your local AZA-accredited zoo or aquarium with the purchase of an adult ticket.
