Facts About the All New Dreft purtouch Detergent

As the mom of 5 I can say that things do get easier. Maybe it’s just that experience truly does ease the stress. With my first two (since they are 14 years apart) I was nervous about everything. Pregnancy and the thoughts of my child were the reasons I started this journey of going green. Parenthood just makes you want to do better in every aspect of your life, for your child. It’s natural to want better for our children. Dreft has unveiled that today’s new and expectant parents are making careful choices when it comes to preparing for baby. In fact, more than half of parents-to-be stated that they began reading labels on products more closely and began purchasing more natural food and drinks after discovering that they were expecting a little one. The same study found that 70% of those surveyed were planning to remove potentially harmful objects or products from their home upon their baby’s arrival.*

Laundry has always been a big concern of mine because I know that what you put on your skin goes into your skin. I was excited to hear about the all new Dreft purtouch detergent containing 65% plant-based ingredients.

This post was done in partnership with Dreft. All opinions are 100% my own and are not influenced in any way.

Dreft purtouch – The Facts

Finding a detergent with naturally derived ingredients is, in my opinion, something every expectant mom should have on their to-do list. Baby’s skin can be incredibly sensitive and as parents we need to protect them. Dreft is the #1 pediatrician-recommended baby detergent brand and now they offer us this new product with naturally derived ingredients, Dreft purtouch. Dreft purtouch is hypoallergenic and it gently cleanses fabrics making it perfect for prewashing baby’s clothing. The detergent is made with 65% plant based ingredients and has no dyes, chlorine, phosphates, or optical brighteners.

The Importance of Prewashing

Did you know that pre-washing baby’s clothes can make you feel that much more ready for your little one’s arrival? Among new parents surveyed who pre-wash their baby’s clothes and fabrics, 97% agree that washing these clothes and fabrics before bringing their newborn home was an important step in making them feel ready for baby.* I’ve gone through a nesting phase with all five of my children. My nesting included washing and folding their laundry. It wasn’t only their clothing, but also their receiving blankets, bassinet sheets, and even their crib sheets and blankets they wouldn’t even use for at least a year. Did you know that 9 out of 10 dermatologists say that it’s important to wash new baby clothes before first wear? Although I’ve always washed everything before they wore it, I never quite looked at it in the way this Dreft video gets the message across:

My husband told me a long time ago that we don’t need to wash new clothes. I laughed at him and told him we do and explained my reasoning. When I saw this video I knew it would relay my message again and this video speaks his language! He’s kind of a germ freak. He watched and said, “okay, I get it now!” From prewashing before baby arrives all the way through toddlerhood, Dreft is the detergent you can count on to be gentle yet effective. Effective in cleaning and in removing 99% of baby food stains!

My Thoughts on purtouch

We’ve been using the new Dreft purtouch for a couple of weeks now on baby Avy’s clothing and blankets. The scent is perfect. It’s not too strong but it’s there. You know, that scent you hope for when you pull the clothes out of the washer? That scent that makes you just smile because it smells so fresh? That’s what you get with the all new Dreft purtouch, a scent of baby fresh! As a mom who is concerned about what I put on my baby’s skin I appreciate purtouch. Dreft made this new detergent while keeping in mind that we worry about that. I feel comfortable using this detergent on my baby’s items that are closest to his skin. Stains with babies are inevitable and Dreft has that covered, too! We’ve been thrilled with our purtouch experience and recommend it to our friends.
