Who doesn’t love Strawberry Shortcake? It’s an American Icon for sure! To me, it symbolizes summer, warmth and family fun! We always enjoy it together during summer family cookouts and gatherings. Macy’s invites us all to celebrate Strawberry Shortcake Day, Tuesday, June 14, 2016 with them! In celebrating the joys of summer and American Icon dishes, our local Somerset Macy’s location will be featuring fun Strawberry Shortcake themed decor, music, and some food. Sounds fun, doesn’t it!? It’s a great reason to get out of the house to celebrate an iconic dessert! Macy’s will make it so fun!
Strawberry Shortcake is something I’ve been making since I was a little girl. My sisters and I always looked forward to strawberry season (AKA summer around here!) and we loved making Strawberry Shortcake with my mom. Now, I love making it with my kids. Over the years we began putting a bit of a spin on it since I have a slight obsession for strawberries and chocolate. We add chocolate pudding to ours and make a bit of a parfait! This is one of the quickest and easiest desserts, yet it’s also one of the most delicious and loved in our home!
All I do is layer cubed pieces of Angel Food cake, chocolate pudding, cut strawberries, whipped cream and garnish the top with chocolate! You could also add chocolate syrup, too! It’s delicious and perfect for those summertime gatherings with the family! It makes me look even more forward to the Macy’s Strawberry Shortcake Day celebration just one week from today!
Tickets to the event are free (some locations do not require a ticket) and there will be events at numerous Macy’s stores around the country! Be sure to check the Macy’s Events page to find an event near you if the Somerset Macy’s in Troy is not local to you. Hopefully you’ll learn some delicious ideas and make your summer even more tastier than you could have imagined! I know I’ll be at Somerset Macy’s next week, will you?
