Mornings around here are very busy. Not only are my husband and I trying to get up and get ready for work but we have three little ones to get up and get ready for school and daycare. I’ll admit I’ve not been much of a morning person in years past but in recent weeks I’ve been really turning that around. Today I wanted to share five tips that I’m finding make it easier to win my morning!
First, let me say how big of a difference I notice in my mornings when I make sure to get eight hours of sleep a night. I definitely wake up feeling like I’m going to win my morning! Exercise is a big thing that I’ve been struggling with finding the time for. In the past few weeks I’ve gotten up just 15 minutes earlier and jumped on the treadmill for a great start to my mornings. I feel much more energized when I do this. Small steps make big differences, right!? Fifteen minutes isn’t long but it sure does make a huge difference in how my day starts off. While I’m walking, I read some daily affirmations that relate to some goals I have for this year. Starting off with positive thoughts is a great way to win your morning and makes a real difference!
Water is a tough thing for me. It’s another goal this year to drink more of it (find out why here) and I’ve found that it’s easier to do early in the day. I fill my water bottle as soon as I get up in the morning and as I am walking and then getting ready I take sips here and there. I make sure it’s full when I get in the car to leave for work and I make sure to take a large drink at every stop light on my way to drop the kids off and then on my way to work! It’s a great feeling to have several glasses marked off of my daily goal before I even get to work! Don’t forget the food! Finally, winning your morning MUST start off with some great food!
