With the cooler temps and the hustle and bustle of the holiday season I can’t get enough of quick and easy meals to help save some time in the evenings. I am always short on time in the evenings and the holidays are adding more things that need to get done in a short amount of time. Are you with me? It happens to the best of us! 😉
Having little time to cook, I am thankful I can find quick and delicious meal solutions to help make the holiday season a bit less stressful. Lately it seems every day I am trying to get something else done in relation to the holidays: Christmas cards, pictures, holiday shopping, gift exchanges, various holiday gatherings (yes, they’ve started already!) and more! I not only want something quick for dinner but I want something my family will enjoy and something that will be a comfort food for my family in this busy season!
Comfort Food Defined in Marie Callender’s
One of my favorite quick mealtime solutions is Marie Callender’s Chicken Pot Pies! They come in a wide variety of flavors and they are comfort defined with their golden, flaky crust! They are a great choice for a warm, wholesome meal for your own family or even holiday gatherings!
Did you know they make them in family size and they can easily be picked up in the frozen section at Walmart while you are getting various other holiday items!?It’s incredibly convenient and the pot pies are delicious! I normally purchase not only the family size but also the individual sized ones to eat on the days I am working from home. Convenient and delicious! (PS…don’t miss out on this Ibotta deal for the 10 or 16 oz and the Ibotta deal for the family size, too!)
The easiest way to cover the crust, I’ve found, is to cover the pie in aluminum foil and cut a circle out of it to keep the crust covered while cooking! I then remove the aluminum foil 5-10 minutes before cook times ends. It’s perfect every time!
This is comfort food defined! The pie tastes homemade and saves so much time! When I know I am short on time for cooking during the week I like to make a dessert ahead of time to go with our quick and easy comfort meals like Marie Callender’s Pot Pies. This week I made a yummy comfort dessert to go along with our pot pies!
ChocoBerry Delight Cake
Pound Cake (I use the frozen pound cake that can also be picked up at Walmart)
Strawberry Ice Cream (softened)
1/2 – 1 cup of Chocolate Chips
Did you know that you can still get berries at Walmart? I was delighted to find them this time of year at our local Walmart.
1) Slice the pound cake into 1/4 – 1/2 inch slices and place in bottom of glass pan.
2) Top the pound cake with the softened ice cream to make the second layer.
3) Make another layer of chocolate chips, sliced strawberries and chocolate syrup.
4) Top with Cool Whip.
5) Place in freezer for one hour to harden.
6) Top with berries and Serve!
I love serving Marie Callender’s Pot Pies to my family! What comfort foods would you add as an appetizer, side or dessert?
