Loving the Quality from Pediped’s Fall Collection

Over the years I’ve developed a fondness for fashionable footwear. I’ve mentioned my shoe obsession many times. Strappy sandals, glitzy flipflops, chunky wedges and ballet flats, I’ve got a pair of just about everything you can imagine and love them all equally. Unfortunately for me my feet have paid the price for my trendy choices; I now suffer from the occasional aches and pains associated with less than stellar support. Although I regret my earlier shoe choices in life I’m also grateful for them because now that I have my own children I know the true importance of picking footwear that supports their foot growth rather than hinders it. When I was given the amazing opportunity to partner with pediped to review a pair of shoes from pediped’s fall collection I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity!

pediped was founded in 2005 by husband and wife duo, Angela and Brian Edgeworth, after the birth of their first daughter, Caroline. It started with the age old question from Angela, “what shoes are best for my child’s feet?” and snowballed from there. Angela wanted shoes that were stylish and comfortable yet suitable for both indoor and outdoor use but most importantly she wanted a shoe that would help promote healthy foot growth.

After a lot of research on the matter, Angela discovered that most Doctors recommended either letting children walk barefoot or wearing soft leather soled shoes but that these options were limited for infants and toddlers. Thus Angela and Brian decided to create the perfect shoe for children, a shoe that would become the “next best thing to bare feet” and mark the birth of pediped. One of the worlds fastest growing children’s footwear brands in the US, pediped offers more than 120 different shoe styles for their customers.

One of my favorite things about pediped, besides their shoes, is their pediped Schools Program. Since getting their start in 2005, pediped has been dedicated to bettering communities and enriching the lives of children, so, it was no surprise when I learned that they have been giving back to schools by donating 10% of their sales to schools nationwide.

Participating is easier than you think and requires just a few moments of your time by simply:

  • Looking up your school
  • Enrolling it in the program
  • Sharing your unique Pediped code with your school
  • Shopping with Pediped and using your unique code at checkout
  • Get 10% back!
I see it every year. Schools are short on funds and our teachers (including my husband) buy supplies our of their own pockets. I love the pediped School program because the money from each sale goes directly to the school of your choice and are used to purchase supplies and other things your child uses in their classroom on a daily basis.

Another thing about pediped that I love is their dedication to the Kenadi Jean Weiss foundation. Founded in honor of Kenadi, a little girl with special needs, the foundation was started after her grandmother inquired about having a custom shoe made after being unable to find one in her granddaughters special size. Moved by the request and Kenadi’s story, pediped released a special boot that was named after Kenadi, the Kenadi Boot. After her death in 2014, Pediped named the boot after Kenadi and crafted it to embody Kenadi’s fun and exceptional spirit.

Everyone who purchases the Kenadi Boot will receive a “Kolor for Kenadi” package that includes a postage-paid card featuring a butterfly to color and send back to Pediped. All butterflies collected with be used to create a wall of honor for Kenadi at the Pediped headquarters and the butterflies will ultimately be given to Kenadi’s family. Additionally, Pediped will donate an extra dollar to the Kenadi Jean Weiss Foundation for each butterfly returned from now until January 31, 2016. The Kenadi Jean Weiss Foundation supports creating a world of acceptance, love and success for children of all abilities and their families.

When given the opportunity to work with Pediped I was hoping for some schools my son could wear to school since we love their quality and know they hold up great! We received the Flex Alex for review, which is not a shoe I let him wear every day but it is a great shoe! It is available in sizes US 7.5-8 up to 5.5-6 Youth and is made to look good whether you’re dressing up for an occasion or just running errands with your little one. It’s has the durable design that I’ve come to expect from pediped and a flexible rubber sole that make it an excellent choice for your child!

Outside of the fact that these shoes look great with fall and winter clothing, some additional key features of the Flex Alex include:
  • Genuine leather upping
  • Breathable leather lining
  • Flexible rubber sole
  • Dress style with velcro closure
  • Approved by the American Podiatric Association for promoting healthy foot development

Because of it’s dressier appearance we save these for things like dinner outings, church and other times he needs to dress up. I don’t feel they are a great fit for the physical activities of school, like gym and recess, but we love having them for life’s finer moments! 😉 The quality of pediped is undeniably one of the best I’ve come across in my years of parenting 4 kids. I love that they have an easy closure and allow for lots of independence!
