Can you believe LA will be 5 years old next month? He’ll be starting school in the fall. It’s such a big year for him! He’s turned into quite the Minions fan so when we were at Walmart the other day I was thrilled to find some Minions cards! There’s a whole display right on the end of one of the card aisles! I love sharing cards with him and special words! If you haven’t checked out the Hallmark cards section at Walmart, it’s a must!

Minion cards at Wamart #SendSmilesMinion cards at Walmart!?! I know, it doesn’t get much better than this! 😉 The cards each come with an adorable little Minion clip on character, too! The cards are going to be the perfect addition to any birthday party this summer or any just because reason that you need a card for!

LA is at the age where he loves getting cards. He loves trying to read them and he loves the time we take to help him. When he sees his favorite Minions characters on the cards? The excitement in his eyes is priceless!

I know these cards are going to be extra special for him so I wanted to put some thought into how we make them last longer for him. There are a couple of things I decided to do with these cards. I decided to upcycle the card to make wall art for his room! This will be perfect over the next few months when we are working on a desk area in his room as we’ll likely decorate it in Minions!

Minion Art from Cards The project took maybe about 15 minutes and he loves it! With just some simple crafting items from Walmart I was able to create a fun piece of wall art using the Minions cards!

Art supplies for cards to art The list of supplies needed was small. I just needed an 8×10 floating frame, double sided scrapbooking tape, scissors, confetti and cards.

Minion ArtI used doubled sided tape to attach the card to the back piece of the frame. I also used it to create a sticky adhesive for the confetti. I peeled the paper off and started on the confetti.

Minion Art work from a card #SendSmilesOnce I was satisfied with the confetti placement I finished putting the frame back together by adding the glass back on top and the side pieces to hold the project all together.

DIY Kids Wall Art #SendSmilesIt looks great on the wall, doesn’t it!?

Outside of the wall art, I wanted to do something special with the clips that came with the Minions cards. The Minion clip is something he’ll want to carry around with him and the “Bundle of Wishes” card is perfect for him later this year when he starts kindergarten. I wanted to give him something special for starting school so I’ll give him a card and attach the clip ons to his new pencil cases for school so he can see them throughout the day and smile!

School pouches with Minion clips Minions cards are a must-have for us this summer as much as the kids love them. I’m so glad I’ve found ways to extend their use and keep the fun reminders of birthdays and well wishes around!
