I’m in love with sea life and visiting aquariums whenever I can. When I heard that there was an aquarium opening in Michigan this year I was beyond excited, for myself and my kids! My husband, being the teacher that he is who loves science and marine life, is also incredibly excited! In just a few short weeks, it’ll be time to visit the aquarium!
Opening January 29, Sea Life Michigan will be located inside of Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills. It is a 35,000-square-foot aquarium that will feature engaging, educational and one-of-a-kind experiences that bring guests nose to nose with more than 5,000 amazing creatures from a diverse 250 species, including sharks, stingrays, jellyfish, sea horses and much, much more.
Creatures have been arriving steadily over the past few weeks and will continue to do so over the next couple of weeks. They are getting acclimated and comfortable in their new homes and will be all set for grand opening on January 29! The aquarium is full of highly themed, colorful, interactive and engaging exhibits that will bring kids closer to marine creatures than ever before. In addition to being a fun and exciting activity, the exhibits will also be highly educational. Families will learn all about the creatures of the sea, including their lifespans, habitats and characteristics, as well as how to take an active role in conservation and preserving the creatures and their environments. Sounds like a great field trip for hubby’s students, too!
Some of the attractions feature a 180-degree underwater ocean tunnel, interactive touch pools, a freshwater exhibit showcasing creatures from Michigan’s lakes and waterways, daily educational talks and feed shows and a children’s play area!
