The All New Funky Fluff Stay Dry 2.0 Cloth Diaper (Review/Giveaway)

A NEW Funky Fluff diaper!? That’s right ladies!! The all new Funky Fluff Stay Dry 2.0 is here! I was super lucky to be sent one for  review! I have reviewed a Funky Fluff diaper in the past so I was thrilled to check it out and see the differences first hand!

What’s new about the Stay Dry 2.0?

  • Slimmer design in the middle of the diaper for ultimate trimness

  • Slightly wider elastics around the back for comfier fit

  • Elimination of double gussets resulting in less bulk and building on the All In Two concept (soakers sit on top of the shell nice and flat without gussets in the way)

  • 2.0 soakers are more narrow to fit the new shell

Reasons why Funky Fluff removed inner gussets from their diapers:

  • One of the reasons why customers love Funky Fluff is due to the 3 in 1 design & versatility where diapers can be used as Pockets, All in Twos and All in Ones.  They wanted to build on this model and it is what led them to the decision to eliminate double gussets from their design. Many parents love to use Funky Fluff as an All in Two diaper and they plan to enhance that experience.  By removing the inner gusset from their design, the soaker will be able to be positioned completely flat on top of the diaper shell rather than on top of the gussets. This will result in a better All in Two experience.
  • Funky Fluff found through customer feedback that double gussets were good in the newborn stage but in the long run they became redundant as once babies started eating solids and no longer had runny poop, they were no longer needed. In fact, parents complained that poop tends to get trapped in the inner gussets and diapers were harder to clean. Thinking about the long term use of their diapers and keeping in mind the short newborn stage, the benefit of removing the inner gusset outweigh the benefit of keeping them.
  • Many parents use either flushable or reusable liners in their diapers and those cover the gussets anyhow.
  • Results in a trimmer fit and less bulky diapers

So now that you have all of the details, let’s take a look at the fit! I was lucky enough to try this on both of my girls: Addy is 26 months old, Annie is just under three months old. I will say up front that I do prefer the fit on Addy!

Let’s take a look at the Funky Fluff Stay Dry 2.0

Funky Fluff Stay Dry 2.0The outside of the diaper doesn’t look different to me. The inside is different in that there are no gussets, as mentioned above. I honestly don’t miss the gussets and agree with the reasons they removed them. I don’t think they are needed for the majority of time diapering a baby/toddler. There is one snap in the front and one in the back for snapping in inserts. This diaper can be used as a pocket diaper or an all in two.

Funky Fluff 2.0 Stay Dry Inserts

FFInsertsWe received two Stay Dry inserts with the Funky Fluff diaper. One small and one large. We used the small with Annie and the large with Addy (toddler).

Also new at Funky Fluff

Customers will now be able to purchase diaper shells and soakers separately to allow for even more flexibility! Those who like stay dry shell to keep their babies dry but love bamboo inserts will now be able to customize.  I love this because I personally prefer natural fibers so I love having the choice! Current ‘diaper sets’ will continue to be available as well.

Funky Fluff’s Stay Dry 2.0 on My Toddler

Funky Flluff on a toddlerFirst of all, check out the print!! I love it! Second, look how great the fit is! It’s one of the trimmest diapers I’ve seen! Yes, Addy only has one of the inserts in, but it worked great. We had no leaks and each time she wore the diaper she was in it for 2-3 hours. I did try this at nap time using both inserts and again, no complaints! There were no leaks at all! <3

Funky Fluff Stay Dry 2.0 on my Infant

Baby Annie got to try out the new Funky Fluff, too! Check out how it looked on her and my thoughts below regarding Funky Fluff on my infant.

Funky Fluff on BabyI did have this snapped on the second smallest rise setting there is. Annie is a tiny nearly three month old at just over 10 pounds and I just didn’t feel like I could get a great fit on her with this diaper. Yes, it did the job, but I much prefer it on my toddler! I think in a couple more months I’ll like it much better on Annie than I do at this point. We did not have leaks on Annie either though so that’s always a big plus! <3

Overall I am loving the changes Funky Fluff has made. I think the narrow design in the middle makes for a much trimmer appearance/fit. The gussets aren’t missed as the poo really can get stuck in them and it was difficult to clean at times in our original version of the Funky Fluff diaper. The print is a favorite of mine, too! 😉
