When I first considered using cloth diapers gDiapers were one of my first choices. I LOVED and still do LOVE the option of using a cloth insert or a disposable insert depending on our needs at the time. We have used both options. These are our go to travel diapers for sure! I had never tried cloth diapering a newborn in gDiapers until Annie was born. I was excited to try their adorable tiny gPants!
The kind people at gDiapers sent me a package for review with baby Annie. It included some Tiny gPants, Small gPants and the disposable inserts. I wasn’t sure how long the tiny g’s would fit her but I definitely wanted to try them. Well, it turns out that she has stayed small and we got plenty of use out of the tiny g’s before we totally moved on to the small gPants.
My Newborn in gDiapers – Tiny gPants vs Small gPants
I’ve seen a lot of questions online about how the fit compares between the tiny gPant and the small gPant so I wanted to do a comparison for you. Here’s baby Annie at 3 weeks old in her tiny gPants:
You can see that both fit, but overall I was thrilled that we had the tiny gPants to use because I did prefer the fit of those in the first six-eight weeks. The tiny gPants are said to fit up to 10 pounds and that was pretty accurate for us. She is just over 10 pounds now and I am much preferring the small gPants these days. The small should fit her til about 14 pounds so we have a while to enjoy them before moving on to our medium stash! 🙂 After using both the tiny and small gPants, I definitely think the tiny gPants are necessary. Some people question whether or not they can start with the small…I say get the tiny gPants, too. You won’t regret it!
The tiny gPants do not have a removable pouch, which I think is another plus in the newborn stage. We mamas are so busy adjusting to many things with a newborn that I think this one less thing to have to snap in is perfect for this time! My husband and I also found that stuffing the gPants with the disposable or cloth inserts ahead of time would greatly help! We would have a stack of gPants ready to go sitting near the changing table and changes could take place in a flash! 😉
The tiny gPants, in my opinion, are the perfect diapers to take to the hospital for use there. One of the last things I wanted to worry about was diaper laundry to take home from the hospital. In our case, Annie ended up being in the hospital for five days so I definitely couldn’t have done cloth during those days just because of the laundry. Having the disposable option was just what I needed. It allowed me to use the “cute” diapers while also not exposing my daughter to the chemicals found in regular disposable diapers that the hospital offered. It was the perfect solution for us.
The small gPants, like I mentioned earlier, did fit early on but I much preferred the tiny gPants. Around six weeks I started liking the fit of the small gPants. Below you can see a great fit at two months old in the small gPants on baby Annie:
I love putting the girls in matching diapers and I just so happened to have this print in Addy’s size, too! Addy likes to lay down with Annie during tummy time so I snapped this picture! <3
gDiapers are definitely one of my favorite cloth diapering brands! I love their versatility, the prints and the fact that they release them often! A newborn in gDiapers has to be one of the most adorable things…ever! 😉 If you are considering using cloth for your newborn or you are working on building your newborn stash don’t forget to add some gDiapers!
