Pregnancy Journal – 38 Weeks Pregnant

I can’t believe we are so close to meeting our baby girl! I am excited to bring a new life into our family and I can’t wait for the kids to meet her, too! 38 weeks pregnant….wow!

About Baby This Week: (from BabyCenter.com) Your baby has really plumped up. She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she is over 19 1/2 inches long (about the size of a leek). She has a firm grasp, which you’ll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.

Wondering what color your baby’s eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If she’s born with brown eyes, they’ll likely stay brown. If she’s born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she’s 9 months old. That’s because a child’s irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after she’s born, but they usually won’t get “lighter” or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)

How am I feeling? Still tired…feeling pretty pregnant! lol I’ve still had the heartburn this week. I’ve been wanting to do so many things but I feel like I can’t get enough done. Or sometimes I get nothing done. 🙁

Food Cravings/Aversions: Still no major cravings this week. or aversions.

Sleep: Pretty much the same….sleeping well between bathroom trips. My back is still stiff when I get up to go to the restroom but I don’t have much of an issue getting back to sleep after the restroom trip typically.

Baby’s Movement: I am posting this a day late, but yesterday she moved more than ever! I had a dentist appointment and they even commented on how much my belly was moving! She was awake for some time, too! She started around 3pm and was still moving like crazy late last night around 9-10p!

Weight: Up to six pounds now! That’s the most this pregnancy so far!

Next Appointment: My next appointment is scheduled for Thursday although my doctor was not sure she’d see me this week at the office. I was dilated 2-3 cm, 60-70% effaced and baby was in a -2 station. BUT, at my 38 week appt with Addy I was also 2-3 cm dilated and she wasn’t born for another week and 3 days! lol

What happened this week? I did go to L&D Wednesday night because of contractions that started on my way home from work. They lasted 3 hours and were less than 10 minutes apart. As I always do, I was hesitant in going to the hospital in case it was false labor. Of course when I got there the contractions stopped. They monitored me for 4 hours and sent me home. I was only dilated to 1 at that time and it did not progress while I was there. BUT, but Friday morning I was dilated 2-3cm! Hubby and I also went to a Mom2Mom sale to try and get rid of lots of our boy items that we no longer need and some baby items that we don’t use. We made a bit of extra money, which was nice since I’ll be going on leave soon! But, there was also a snow storm during the sale so the turnout was pretty low.

Something that upset me: Nothing that I can recall.

Something I am looking forward to: Meeting baby!!!  I’m really excited to meet her, see who she looks like and all that fun stuff!

Boy or Girl? Those strong feelings I had early on about gender proved to be right!!! We’re having a girl!!!!!!!!

Things I am doing to prepare: I bought one more newborn diaper. I think she’s all set on diapers although I wish I had gotten some newborn gDiapers to use at the hospital. 🙁 I NEED to finish packing my hospital bag…especially since I’m cramping pretty bad as I sit here typing this journal and baby could arrive any day now!

Countdown: I’m at 38 weeks pregnant, so 2 weeks to go if we go to 40 weeks!

Momma Joyner’s Journal: Be sure to check out Courtney’s journal at Joy of Momma Joyner! Her post is all about her 33nd week!

Pregnant? What are you up to this week?
