Pregnancy Journal – 37 Weeks Pregnant

It’s getting so close! 37 weeks pregnant already! I can’t even tell you how fast this pregnancy has gone! This week has been busy and had a lot of accomplishments!

About Baby This Week: (from BabyCenter.com) Your due date is very close now, but doctors don’t consider your baby “full term” until 39 weeks. Spending the next two weeks in the womb allows your baby’s brain and lungs to fully mature. So if you’re planning to have a repeat c-section, for example, your practitioner will schedule it for no earlier than 39 weeks unless there’s a medical reason to intervene earlier.

Your baby weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (about the size of a bunch of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long. But don’t be surprised if your baby’s hair isn’t the same color as yours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alikes. And then, of course, some babies sport only peach fuzz.

How am I feeling? Tired. I’ve been trying to hard to get so many things done and feel I have a million more things to do. My back feels better and then starts hurting again. It comes and goes. Heartburn, check. BUT, overall I am feeling THANKFUL for this baby girl and for this time being pregnant.

Food Cravings/Aversions: Haven’t had any major cravings in a while. Yes, I like certain things, but I haven’t had that “I NEED THIS NOW” feeling.

Sleep: Pretty much the same….sleeping well between bathroom trips. I did have one night of a toothache and I am praying that doesn’t come back. It was a rough night. When I lay down I get heartburn and have been taking way more TUMS than I care to. My back is still stiff when I get up to go to the restroom but I don’t have much of an issue getting back to sleep after the restroom trip.

Baby’s Movement: There were a few days she moved a lot less than normal. Overall, she’s still moving most at night.

Weight: Back up to 5 pounds gained…it keeps going up and down by a few pounds.

Next Appointment: I am going every week now and my appointment will be at the end of this week. 🙂 I’ll be checked to see if I’m dilating at all! Yes, ALREADY!!  What do you think? Am I? 😉

What happened this week? More cold and snow. It’s been a crazy cold winter! We went to a friend’s son’s birthday party, the kids had a blast! I got all receiving blankets washed. Baby clothes washed (just not folded yet). I did get a lot more work done for the Mom 2 Mom sale this weekend. I think I must be crazy going to a sale at 38 weeks pregnant! lol I am determined to get the stuff out of our house that we don’t need though and free up some space!

Something that upset me: The pain. I was pretty tired of pain and pretty upset about it. I had a few “feeling sorry for myself” moments and got frustrated with some feelings I’ve been having.

Something I am looking forward to: I am looking forward to being done with the sale this weekend. I am looking forward to HOPEFULLY getting a lot done over the next week or so and dreaming of some relaxation time before baby arrives.

Boy or Girl? Those strong feelings I had early on about gender proved to be right!!! We’re having a girl!!!!!!!!

Things I am doing to prepare: I bought a few more newborn diapers. I washed baby clothes and receiving blankets. Trying to clear out some space in the house.

Countdown: I’m at 37 weeks pregnant, so 3 weeks to go if we go to 40 weeks!

Momma Joyner’s Journal: Be sure to check out Courtney’s journal at Joy of Momma Joyner! Her post is all about her 32nd week!

Pregnant? What are you up to this week?

  1. So sorry to hear that you’re still in pain, but there’s an end in sight! It sounds like all the “little pieces” are coming together for you in terms of getting everything ready. Hope these last few weeks go smoothly for you and baby!
