About Baby This Week: (from BabyCenter.com) Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds and is more than 18 1/2 inches long (about the size of a head of romaine lettuce). She’s shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.

At the end of this week, your baby will be considered “early term.” (Full-term is 39 to 40 weeks. Babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term, 41 weeks is late term, and those born after 42 are post-term.) Most likely your baby is already head-down. But if not, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an external cephalic version (ECV). That’s a fancy way of saying that your practitioner will apply pressure to your abdomen to try to manipulate your baby into a head-down position.

How am I feeling? My cold had gotten better, thank God! Still dealing with sinus drainage, but not bad. Heartburn remains but seems to have lessened a bit this past week. My back actually started feeling better but I ruined that when nesting happened this weekend. I’ve also been pretty tired this week.

Food Cravings/Aversions: No major cravings this past week. Still like milk often….lol

Sleep: I sleep pretty good in between bathroom trips. When I do have to get up to use the restroom it takes me a while to get there because although my back doesn’t hurt when I lay down, the longer I lay the stiffer it gets and I have to walk slowly because of the stiffness that then causes pain. Getting back to sleep usually isn’t a problem. I did have one night recently that I could not go to sleep for anything. I laid in bed for 2 hours wide awake. That was frustrating. I feel for the people who can’t sleep.

Baby’s Movement: I feel her move often. Again, more so at night, but I love feeling her move and will miss that about being pregnant.

Weight: At the doctor last week I was at a total of 3 pounds gained so far.

Next Appointment: I am going every week now and my appointment will be at the end of this week. 🙂

What happened this week? We spent more time going through baby items and sorting through what we’ll need and what we won’t need. We’ll be attending a Mom 2 Mom sale at the end of the month to hopefully get rid of a bunch of stuff we don’t need to make room for baby! Nesting was in full effect yesterday. As I mentioned earlier my back was feeling a bit better but cleaning all day yesterday (dusting, cleaning corners, cleaning ceiling fans, cleaning out the refrigerator) was enough to put me right back in pain. 🙁 I was happy to get a bit done though. I still feel like I have a million things to do before she arrives. I wish, wish, wish I could take two weeks off of work before baby arrives just to get stuff done!

Something that upset me: A few things…the preggo hormones were in full effect this week, too! LOL

Something I am looking forward to: Looking forward to the Mom 2 Mom sale, just hoping I have the energy to make it through! Also looking forward to baby’s birth and meeting her! Getting so excited!!! <3

Boy or Girl? Those strong feelings I had early on about gender proved to be right!!! We’re having a girl!!!!!!!!

Things I am doing to prepare: Besides what I mentioned earlier (getting ready for the Mom 2 Mom sale and nesting, I’ve also bought a few more newborn diapers!! 🙂 I’ve THOUGHT about getting her clothes washed. Does that count? 😉

Countdown: I’m at 36 weeks pregnant, so 4 weeks to go if we go to 40 weeks!

Momma Joyner’s Journal: Be sure to check out Courtney’s journal at Joy of Momma Joyner! Her post is all about her 31st week!

Pregnant? What are you up to this week?

  1. I hit the 36 week mark yesterday! I am measuring two weeks ahead which explains why I feel like a whale. It’s so hard to move around and every baby movement HURTS!
