Dr Smith’s Diaper Rash Ointment Has Saved Many Days!

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post, I did receive compensation as well as product in exchange for my view. Regardless, my views are 100% my own and are not influenced in any way.

If you’ve been around my blog for a while I’m sure you’ve heard me mention that Addy has incredibly sensitive skin. She has gotten more diaper rashes than I care to count or remember. I feel so bad for her! You all also know that we are a cloth diaper part time and disposable part time family. There are times I’ve had to take her out of cloth and use disposables with rash cream to heal her bum. Late last year we were introduced to Dr. Smith’s diaper rash ointment and I want to share our experience with you.

First, let me tell you a bit about this product. Dr. Smith’s was invented by a San Antonio pediatrician in 1963 to solve his patients’ painful problems. His dream was to make this a national product and  on its 50th anniversary Mission Pharmacal (the company that acquired Dr. Smith’s in 2009) made that dream a reality!

As I stated earlier, Addy gets some horrible rashes. I’ve tried many, many things over her almost two years of life. I was almost hesitant to try something new because I get tired of things not working or tired of things taking forever to work but I was happy to know I would have a few months to really get to know this product and then share it with you all. I could REALLY test it out and see how it would work for us.

The first thing I noticed about Dr. Smith’s is it’s thickness. It is great for putting on rashes and it staying there! It’s not going to thin out too fast, it’s not going to soak into the diaper, it’s not going to drip away because it’s thin…it’s going to stay right in place where it needs to be to heal baby’s rash!

It stays in place, and best of all…we found it works! Not only does it work, but it works fast!! In as few as two diaper changes Addy’s rashes would start to heal! We would see her go from crying during a diaper change to laying there like she had no rash – all in the same day! Granted, it wasn’t 100% healed within a few changes, but it was a great improvement!

We did only use this with disposable diapers as it does have Zinc Oxide in it so it’s not safe for cloth diapers. When she gets a rash though we typically take her out of cloth diapers and use disposables so this works out great for us and is something we will alwaysD keep on hand!
