Pregnancy Journal – 29 Weeks Pregnant

It’s been a really, really rough week. I had my doctor appointment and what a difference three weeks (since my last appointment) can make. I’m at 29 weeks pregnant and praying for strength.

About Baby This Week: (from BabyCenter.com) Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (about the size of a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you’ll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby’s hardening skeleton each day.

How am I feeling? My back/hip/leg pain is increasing. It’s bad. The only time I am not in pain is when I am sitting or laying down. It’s tough being mama and wife when I feel like this. I went to my doctor appointment and what a difference three weeks makes. My blood pressure has NEVER been high. This last appointment it was higher than normal…I am usually around 120/70…it was 129/80. There was protein in my urine. My doctor is sending me to a physical therapy specialist to be evaluated to get to the bottom of my back pain because she said I cannot go the rest of this pregnancy like I am now. She said it’s most likely siatic nerve or the fact that this is my fourth baby and my bones are loseing and moving around too early. It should be intersting trying to find the time to go to another doctor and possibly take physical therapy. BUT, I have to find the time because this pain is crazy. In other news, the heartburn has been crazy as normal. I’ve been more tired, again…hoping that’s only because we had a very busy week and did some traveling for the holiday.

Food Cravings/Aversions: Milk is really the only thing I feel like I NEED every day.

Sleep: I feel like I am sleeping pretty well. It does hurt a bit more now when I turn over (my back/hip) and I have the normal hip pain when laying on one side too long.

Baby’s Movement: Still feeling movement day and night..the last day or so hasn’t been as much, but still movement.

Weight: I have gained two pounds total in 29 weeks. My doctor was pretty happy about that. I kinda am too! :)

Next Appointment: I go every two weeks now. Already!! I can’t believe we only have 11 weeks to go…this is going to fly!

What happened this week? Thanksgiving!!! It was a great holiday and we had an awesome time with Hubby’s family and then with mine! The little ones really enjoyed seeing everyone. My oldest neice’s name is Ariel and since they don’t see her often (she lives out of state) and they’ve been watching The Little Mermaid a lot lately, they called her a Princess. It was so cute! They adored her…probably because she IS a princess!! haha! ;)

Something that upset me: My sisters upset me a bit on Thanksgiving. Nothing new there though.

Something I am looking forward to: This week? I am looking forward to the end of every work day, and even more so…the end of the work week period. It’s going to be a very stressful and draining week there so I am not looking forward to it. At all.

Boy or Girl? Those strong feelings I had early on about gender proved to be right!!! We’re having a girl!!!!!!!!

Things I am doing to prepare: Nothing again this week….I’ve not been able to really do much at all outside of the “must get done” things.

Countdown: I’m at 29 weeks pregnant, so 11 weeks to go if we go to 40 weeks!

  1. This is the time in my previous two pregnancies when my pelvic pain is severe…and this pregnancy is no different. Actually, it seems even worse than with my boys. It hurts so much to walk. I work two days out of the home and getting up and down from my computer is very difficult. I feel so old! It is always worse after I have been sitting for a little bit. I have a pregnancy support belt but it is so tight around my lower belly that the baby seems uncomfortable. I cannot believe that I have 2 1/2 more months to go.

    Have you looked to see if there are exercises that may help with the pain?

    I was due on the 29th and still waiting :( I’m trying for a VBAC but the doctor doesn’t want the baby getting too big.
