Ditch the Disposables with Glass Straws from Glass Dharma

You all know that my journey to going green started with my pregnancy and LA four years ago. I am a firm believer in making small changes and together we can all make a big difference. In our home we chose to make small changes, one at a time. We’ve come a long way since our journey began and one thing we are working on now is ditching disposable items in our home. We are also working on getting rid of all containers that have plastic in them that come in contact with our food. That’s why, for the upcoming Ditch the Disposables event I was thrilled to partner with Glass Dharma on a review of their reusable glass straws.

Going Green with Glass Straws

My kids love using straws but I never wanted them to use plastic straws. We were introduced to Glass Dharma a few years back and have been huge fans ever since! Their straws are amazing!! Glass Dharma makes glass straws (of course), but they are also sustainable, reusable, durable, easy to clean, suitable for hot and cold drinks and one of my favorite features: dishwasher safe! The straws are handmade in the USA and Glass Dharma offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee as well as a lifetime guarantee against breakage!! How fabulous is that!? I love a company that stands behind their products like that!

Glass Dharma is Our Answer

We received four glass straws from Glass Dharma for review purposes. The above straws I often use with my tea, water, and homemade milkshakes! The straw on the left is their Beautiful Bend straw. It has a slight bend in it as you can see, which is great for sipping while leaning back and relaxing in my chair outside, in my opinion! The straw on the left is their Simple Elegance straw in the 12mm size, and it is just that…simply elegant! It’s basic design is great for those who don’t need all that “jazz” but still want to be green. The Simple Elegance glass straw in this size is my go-to straw for things like smoothies and milk shakes.

Glass Straws for my child My three year old loves straws!!! We let him use the 7mm glass straw at snack and meal times and he loves it! It has the Decorative Dots and they are available in various colors, which is another thing he loves! They are the perfect child sized straws! But, even this mama loves this straw, too! 😉

Decorative Dots with Glass DharmaI personally love the Decorative Dots line and the above is MY straw. I use it regularly and I actually have a few of them. I need to get more for my collection! 😉 They are pretty and stylish and add to my joy in going green!

We have totally ditched disposable straws thanks to Glass Dharma! This amazing company has been around since 2007 and at the start of 2012 their shipping numbers were over 200,000! That’s a lot of people who have ditched disposables, but let’s spread the word even more about the straws so we can get more people to make the change! It prevents plastics from leaching into our drinks and also prevents so many plastic straws from ending up in the landfill!
