Pregnancy Journal – 20 Weeks and Half Way There!

Can you believe I am at the half way point!? 20 weeks already!? It has gone by incredibly fast!! I am trying to enjoy every moment of this pregnancy but it’s been difficult lately with my moods! LOL HALF WAY there!!! Half way to meeting our baby girl! Wow. It’s going to be amazing!

Baby’s Size This Week: (from BabyCenter.com) Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He’s also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — about the size of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby’s legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the “crown to rump” measurement. After 20 weeks, he’s measured from head to toe.)

He’s swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He’s also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you’ll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

How am I feeling? At 20 weeks, I am very, very grouchy. I feel like everything is upsetting me. Poor hubby is REALLY getting it. Although, I must say that although I have felt like I AM being grouchy…I also feel my complaints are valid. He told me this weekend that this pregnancy I’ve been the moodiest out of all of them. We joked that maybe baby girl will be full of drama! haha! Let’s hope not. But seriously…it’s bad. I need to figure out how to change this. Outside of that, I’ve been feeling fine other than the normal tired feeling.

Food Cravings/Aversions: Chocolate milkshakes still…

Sleep: Getting up to go to the restroom more often and my hips are hurting more when sleeping on one side too long.

Baby’s Movement: I feel baby on the inside now for sure…she moves mostly at night. Or that’s when things are calm enough for me to notice it.

Weight: I had my OB appointment last week and asked them to confirm my weight gain since I wasn’t 100% sure. I have only gained one pound in 20 weeks! She said they want me to gain 15 but at this point they aren’t alarmed with the lack of weight gain.

Next Appointment: I had my monthly appointment last week. I don’t go again til Halloween! My 20 week ultrasound is Thursday!

What happened this week? We got new furniture and I got my tickets for the Josh Groban concert!!! I was pretty excited about those things!

Something that upset me: What didn’t upset me!??

Something I am looking forward to: Being able to put my hand on my belly and feel baby with my hand. I love feeling her little flutters but I love even more feeling her with my hand! 😉 Also looking forward to my 20 week ultrasound Thursday.

Boy or Girl? Those strong feelings I had early on about gender proved to be right!!! We’re having a girl!!!!!!!! I even bought a piece of girl clothing a bit over a month ago because I just KNEW we were having a girl! <3 Sometimes I wish I could have been patient and waited til birth, but overall I’m so happy we found out baby’s gender!

Countdown: 20 weeks to go if we go to 40 weeks!

Pregnant? How is it going this week? What have your pregnancy challenges been thus far?

  3. Yay for reaching the halfway point! I’m 32 weeks today and sort of alternate between ‘I’m ready to get this baby out!’ and ‘omg I still have so much to do’. I feel you on the moodiness too 🙂
