Pregnancy Journal – 18 Weeks and We Know Baby’s Gender

There are a few exciting things this week!!  First, we know baby’s gender!! If you’ve not checked out my post on our 4D ultrasound at Baby on Board, please do so! These amazing ladies were able to tell us baby’s gender and allowed us to see our precious little one!

Second big news: Do you all remember the Tuesday’s Tastes on Second Base features I used to do with Courtney at Joy of Momma Joyner? Well…..Courtney is expecting again and I am so excited to share this with her!!!! We both have two little ones who are 3 and 1 so to be pregnant together again is AWESOME!!!!!  Courtney will be joining in on the pregnancy journal as we both post each Monday with an update on how it’s going! Courtney is due March 22 so she’s a bit behind me so it will be fun for you to read both journals! CONGRATS Courtney and thank you for joining me in the weekly journal feature!!! <3

Baby’s Size This Week: (from BabyCenter.com) Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long, and he weighs almost 7 ounces (about the size of a bell pepper). He’s busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you’ll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they’re still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he’s born. If you’re having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you’re having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.

How am I feeling? It’s weird but my need to organize and clean is still inside of me. I wish I had more time/energy to acy upon it. That is depressing. This past week I was REALLY tired again. I did read baby would be going through a growth spurt so I wonder if it has to do with that. This past weekend I think I caught a small bug from the kids and wasn’t feeling the best, but it is slowly getting better.

Food Cravings/Aversions: No major cravings this week.

Sleep: Sleeping really well between restroom trips and turning! 🙂

Baby’s Movement: I’ve felt a few TINY movements but I need to feel more to KNOW it’s baby! 🙂

Weight: I gained 2 pounds this week.

Next Appointment: OB appointment this week! I should be able to schedule my 20 week ultrasound when I am there so I’m pretty excited about that!

What happened this week? My mom came to visit Saturday and spent the night! It was great having her there. I wish she lived closer!

Something that upset me: I get easily frustrated that I don’t have the energy to get everything done that I want to get done. I was pretty upset about that Friday and Saturday.

Something I am looking forward to: Can’t wait to schedule the 20 week ultrasound and see baby again! <3

Boy or Girl? Those strong feelings I had early on about gender proved to be right!!! We’re having a girl!!!!!!!! I even bought a piece of girl clothing a bit over a month ago because I just KNEW we were having a girl! <3 Sometimes I wish I could have been patient and waited til birth, but overall I’m so happy we found out baby’s gender!

Countdown: 22 weeks to go if we go to 40 weeks!

Overall, still not much change this week. Looking forward to meeting baby, but trying to enjoy being pregnant, too! 🙂
