I can’t believe it…15 weeks already! This pregnancy really is flying! I can’t believe we are so close to the half way point!
Baby’s Size This Week: (from BabyCenter) Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She’s busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she’s likely to move away from the beam. There’s not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby’s a boy or a girl! (Don’t be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby’s sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby’s position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to “hide the goods.”)
How am I feeling? I’ve had bursts of energy, although they don’t last long. For example, this morning I really went on a cleaning rampage in the kitchen…I spent probably a good 30-45 minutes just deep cleaning and when I was done I was tired. I was thankful for that burst though! There were a few days this week that were pretty rough with headaches and just not feeling hot, but once I got past those days I felt the best I’ve felt so far this pregnancy. I am hesitant to say “I feel NORMAL”, as in like every other woman on the face of this planet, but I do feel pretty good. Today anyway. lol
Food Cravings/Aversions: Nothing major this week…scary that it’s almost normal! haha! I’ve cut back on wanting soup so much. I’ve wanted cherry coke a few times or even sweets a few times, but nothing I can say was really a “craving”. There was once this week that I ate chicken and really thought about WHAT I was eating and I felt like I was going to get sick…so I think that goes back to the meat aversion I had been having.
Sleep: Bathroom trips have slowed down a bit, at least a few of the nights this week. I think I even slept through the night a few nights! woohoo!!!
Baby’s Movement: I felt lots of fluttering last night. I don’t really KNOW that it was baby because it last several minutes and I really don’t think baby would have been moving for that long. SO…I think we are getting pretty close but still in the unsure stage.
Weight: I started this pregnancy too large so I kinda need to lose weight at this point. The doctor said I should only gain 10-15 pounds the whole pregnancy. According to the doctor’s scale I lost three pounds. To be fair though, I did switch offices and it could just be the difference in the scale.
Next Appointment: It’s another four weeks out. I just had my appointment this past week and I was so happy that hubby was able to go with me. Since he teaches, he will be going back to work from summer break soon and it won’t be as easy to schedule appointments that he is able to go to. It was the first appointment that we heard the baby’s heartbeat so I was really thankful to share that moment with him.
What happened this week? Nothing too exciting. The week went fast and we ended up not doing much this weekend. It was a pretty normal routine week. We were supposed to go to a play but I forgot it was a family birthday weekend so we got together for cake and ice cream! We also took LA and Addy for a swim lesson this week! That was fun and they did great!
Something that upset me: A talk we had to have with our teenager. It was one of the toughest things I’ve had to do as a parent. I hope some day he understands and appreciates the decisions we’ve had to make with him.
Something I am looking forward to: I’m getting excited for the next ultrasound! We have another five weeks to wait, but that’s close and I’m sure it will go fast!
Boy or Girl? As I have said, I’ve not done any of the gender prediction tests, but personally I am feeling like this is a girl. Hubby is thinking a boy so it will be interesting to see who it right!
Countdown: 25 weeks to go if we go until 40 weeks!
