Be Green and Make Green with Your College Textbooks

I’ve been talking a lot about Monsters University and my excitement for the premiere of this movie. Truth is, it’s taking me back to my college days and stirring up all sorts of memories, which is always fun! One not so fun thing I remember is the expense of college textbooks. They were crazy expensive so I can only imagine how much they are now, some 13ish years later! I’m so glad there are options these days to help college students, not only to be green, but to make “green” (or in other words, money!).

Campus Book Rentals

Campus Books Rentals is one place that help college students. What a genius idea to RENT books, rather than BUY them! This is absolutely the answer for freshman in this fall! Take a look at some of these benefits:

  • You can save 40-90% off of bookstore prices.
  • You get free shipping both ways.
  • You can highlight in the textbooks.
  • They have flexible renting periods.
  • They donate to Operation Smile with each textbook rented!

So you not only save money and get FREE shipping, but you get to help a great cause, too! If you’ve not heard, Operation Smile is a fabulous program that performs life changing cleft lip surgeries on children whose families could not otherwise afford it. The long term improvement in quality of life for the children that receive these surgeries is almost incomprehensible. I love that they donate to this amazing organization with each and every textbook rental! That’s something to cheer about!

Rent College Text Books

Now, if you are a returning college student there is a new way for you to make some money with those textbooks you may have already bought! CampusBookRentals.com has a new program, RentBack that would be great! RentBack is new initiative that allows you to rent the textbooks you own – to other students… which is awesome because it makes you 2-4x more money compared to what you’d make through buyback options at school! Isn’t that awesome?!

We have a niece that is entering her sophomore year in college and one entering her freshman year in college this fall. I am thrilled to be able to tell them about programs like Campus Book Rentals and RentBack. I can only imagine how much more affordable things would have been had these been options for me! Make sure you share this information with those people you know who are going to college this summer or fall!

  1. I can’t imagine what it will cost when my kids enter college a decade or so from now. Maybe I should start setting money aside now! I wonder if it will all be digital by then, I’m sure their will still be an exorbitant fee. As a student in college this is awesome, for some kids they have to pinch every penny they can just to survive the 4 years financially.
