My darling husband and I have been on a mission to declutter our home for a while now. We’ve found many outdated things that we need to get rid of, but I refuse to throw them away! This green mission that I am on prevents me from doing so! I want to find as many reuses of things as I can to prevent as much from going to the landfills as possible! It’s easy really, sometimes you just have to get a little creative.Recycling can be done in a variety of ways!
Much of the stuff we need to get rid of is stuff from before we married. I personally have boxes of things in our basement that have been there since I moved in with hubby. Shhh…don’t tell anyone! There are things in those boxes like old cell phones, DVDs and CDs that no one even touches any more. The CDs are pretty out of date…I mean, it’s rare that people buy CDs any more with the iPhones (or other smartphones) and MP3 players available these days! It’s time to separate myself from them and time to declutter! I have decided there are many things I can do to help with this goal.
Recycling Ideas
- I can sell my stuff and get a little bit of extra cash! That’s always an appealing motive to declutter!
- I can donate the CDs to an artist who can recycle those old CDs into gorgeous art work!
- I can donate the DVDs to a library or children’s club/group. Recycling by one person can be reusing by another!
- Cell phones can be donated to organizations that provide military personnel with cell phones or elderly people with cell phones.
I think I’ll end up doing a combination of the above ideas to recycle/reuse (by someone anyway) our stuff! I’ll definitely be checking out Music Magpie for values and selling items! Some of the really old items will be used in craft projects or given to an artist friend of mine to create something new out of something old!
