Running is a passion of mine. When I was younger I ran track and cross country and those days were some of the most peaceful times I can recall. I recently decided to take on the Go Green Get Fit Challenge and it has proved to be most challenging to me. In the beginning I was doing fairly well, in fact, I gave up a few of my addictions (like caramel frappes) and lost some weight. I tried so hard to get into a fitness routine but that proved to be the hardest part of this challenge for me. As much as I love to run, I haven’t done it in years and my goal with this challenge was to do just that again: run. The middle part of this challenge is where I hit the snag. I started eating some things I knew I shouldn’t, I couldn’t find the time to exercise nearly as much as I wanted if I were going to be running by the end and I gained a bit of the weight back. Well, about a month ago I received my shoes from PlanetShoes.com for review. PlanetShoes.com is one of the biggest sponsors of Go Green Get Fit and provided each of us participants with shoes for the challenge. Well, you give this woman a new pair of running shoes and guess what? That’s a huge motivation for getting my bum back in gear!

If you’ve not heard of PlanetShoes.com you should definitely check them out! They are big fans of Mother Earth, like we are, and they strive to bring us the best shoes, bags and accessories in the most eco-conscious way! Thumbs up, PlanetShoes, for that! They kindly sent me the GoLite Dart Lite women’s shoes in charcoal and Hawaiian colors for review. I was thrilled when my PlanetShoes package arrived because I hadn’t bought a new pair of running shoes in years. Plus, I knew that after “falling off of the wagon” these shoes were what I needed to get back on! I opened the box and immediately tried on my new shoes!

The shoes weren’t quite what I had hoped in the beginning. They felt pretty stiff, which I knew was because they were new, but they were also somewhat less feminine looking than I had wanted. I tried them on and they felt decent, but I knew I would have to wear then many times before they fit and felt great. The part of trying to wear them often to “wear” them in did prove to give me some sore feet. I often went back to my old shoes when exercising and that’s where I went wrong. I didn’t get them worn in as soon as I probably could have. When I decided to finally put the inserts in that came with the shoes it made a world of difference and I was liking them much more! These shoes will be my companions in my journey of weight loss, walking and then on to running!

Overall, I love the colors of my shoes and the fit has gotten better and better as time passes and the shoes are worn. The upper part of these shoes has a synthetic mesh upper, which is great with running shoes because it allows for breathability. My feet did not feel overly hot when I worn them, which is a huge plus for me! I’m slowly but surely getting my behind back on track!

Yeah, I hate the breaking in phase of new shoes. They always feel fine in the shoe store, but start to hurt the first time I try them at home.

These look so cozy! I love the toe design, it seems like it would be good for klutz’s like me who always seem to stub my toes!
