I mentioned earlier this week that baby Addy has just started eating baby foods! It’s an exciting time and a sad time for me. I am excited that she gets to try new things and grow and be a happy, healthy baby…but a part of me is sad that mama’s milk won’t be her only food source any more. Is that weird? Anyway…the past week I’ve been pondering about baby food and trying to figure out the best decisions for our family.
Earth’s Best offers both jars and pouches in the first foods. Their pouches are limited to only bananas and pears where their jars have a wide array of eight foods. As of now, we’ve used both kinds. In fact, we still use the pouches for LA and snacks and he loves them!! The jars are easy to use while at home; the pouches are easy to toss into the diaper bag and use on the go. I do wish that the pouches were available in more flavors and even in veggies! I love that their jar foods are available in starter packs, which is what we mostly ordered from Amazon for LA. I am thinking we’ll stick to using both as it’s rather convenient for us.
So, what do you prefer? Jars or pouches? What are your reasons?
FTC Disclosure: I am an Earth’s Best ambassador and receive products from them, however, all opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way.

We actually chose to start with table foods (we did something called Baby-Led Weaning)…so we got pouches so he could enjoy things like applesauce more easily! I LOVE them. My 2.5 year old still enjoys them, even.
i love how easy it looks to open and close! i havent bought one yet due to difficulties i have had with otehr ones but would like one for trips now that hes getting to big for his snugabunny
I would avoid the pouches because of the plastic leaching chemicals into the food. I recently read about studies done on baby food finding many yucky plastic chemicals in there.. What is the point of organic if you are eating chemicals from the packaging? It’s a bummer because the glass is more bulky, but I think worth it in the long-run. Plastics are so convenient and all around us but really are no good when in contact with our foods! I highly recommend the book “Plastic Free” by Beth Terry, it’s really good!
I love the pouches while on the go!!! And my 7 month son loves them as well. While we are at home though he eats pretty much whatever we eat for dinner. For breakfast I make my own brown rice or oatmeal cereal using the baby bullet and then combine it with any fresh organic foods that are now in season like peaches and such. He loves it!!
