We have been so busy lately doing things to our home. My husband and I recently did our first DIY project together and we’ve just been having a great time! Want to know what we are doing?
Our home was built in the 50′s. My husband bought the house about 7 years before we got married. He did a lot of updating when he bought the place but we’ve been doing a lot more recently. Late last year we had new carpeting installed. The past few weeks have been filled with visits from a painter who is painting all of our home on the inside. I have to tell you a funny story about the paint color I chose for our bedroom. I matched it to an odd shade of blue that is in our comforter. I never thought anything of it until the paint was done in that room and hubs looked at me and said “all of that just to match one comforter.” Oops…he was right! What would we do if something happened to that comforter and we couldn’t match the paint to another one? Bad decision on my part!! All I can do now is laugh about it! We are also having a ceramic backsplash installed in our kitchen. I can’t wait til that’s done! If that’s not enough…
Our DIY project? Well, we were at the store one night and I saw some of the peel and stick tiles that were pretty. I had been wanting to re-tile the entry by one of our doors, which is really only about 3′ x 4′ for some time now. I decided it would be a cheap project for me to do, afterall, I enjoy things like that. Once that was done, hubs and I decided we could both re-do our kitchen floor with the same peel and stick tiles to make it look better. We thought we’d just do it real quick after the kids went to bed one night. Quick, huh? LOL We were up until nearly 2am, but it is done now and it looks nice! And, we survived a DIY project!!
Lastly, we installed new smoke alarms and a carbon monoxide detector. Having young children makes us fully aware of just how important those two items are! They are incredibly easy to install and we mark the calendar to check them monthly to make sure they are working. They aren’t really part of a making a room look better, they these are an important part of maintaining our home so we were sure to update these as we were updating our home. Have you checked yours lately?
Hopefully in the coming months we can save more money towards our home remodeling projects and find some more things to do together. Have you done any projects lately? If so, what? How did they go?

You should post some pictures of all this remodeling!
