Tommee Tippee Breast Pump Review

Breastfeeding is something near and dear to my heart. I have breastfed all of my children and so far with Baby Addy we are having a successful nursing experience. Due to the fact that I do work full time and I returned to work last week I do have to rely on a breast pump to help me collect milk for her when I am working.

Would it be easier to give her formula while I am gone? Absolutely! Pumping at work takes a huge dedication but I wouldn’t change my decision for the world and I strongly encourage other working mothers to do the same!

A reliable breast pump is absolutely necessary to be a successful breastfeeding, working mama. The Tommee Tippee breast pump has been a big part of our pumping success. Baby Addy normally only nurses on one side for each feeding. Each morning I have been pumping on the opposite side as she eats to help build our freezer supply. I started this when she was about 4 weeks old knowing that I would be returning to work. This is the perfect pump for this task. It is a single electric breast pump meaning that the pump is designed to work on one side at a time. The pump is not overly loud and can be used discretely in a closed room if needed. There are four different suction levels and the pump has a comfy silicone insert that goes over your breast. The pump is very easy to take apart and clean. I do wish it came with more bottles though since the Tommee Tippee bottles that this pump works with are not a universal size. I was impressed with how well the pump worked from the first time I used it. I was easily and quickly able to get plenty of milk out from day one of using this pump!

One thing I love about this pump is that it can be operated by electric or by battery. This is incredibly helpful if you need to pump in the car! I actually have a friend who used to pump exclusively and she would pump in the car on her way to work and on her way home from work! We take trips to visit family sometimes and those trips are about 3 hours long. Now I normally wouldn’t NEED to pump in that amount of time, but I love that I can have the pump ready in case my breasts start to feel overly full! The pump does come with one five ounce bottle and two storage pods. I did not use the storage pods as I normally store 4 ounces together and the pods would only hold two. Another thing I love? It comes with it’s own steri box! Yes, that box in the picture can be used to sterilize the breast pump parts in the microwave for quick and easy cleaning! Now that is a great feature for a busy, working mama! It is also very comfortable and easy to use – definite must have features in a pump!

My only disappointments in this pump were the fact that it is a single pump and the fact that the flange is white and not clear plastic. First, let me explain about the single pump. As I said, it is perfect for those who only need to pump on one side while baby is nursing on the other side. Unfortunately, I cannot see it working for me during my work day. You see, I get two fifteen minute breaks and a 30 minute lunch. All of that time is spent pumping to get the amount I need for Baby Addy to eat the next day. I really cannot imagine it working because I would have to pump one side at a time, which would take about 30-40 minutes. I do have to use my double electric pump at work but having my Tommee Tippee single pump at home (to use for morning pumping) allows me to leave my double pump at work and I have less to carry back and forth!  I would love to try the Tommee Tippee double electric breast pump, I have a feeling I would be in love! 🙂 The problem I have with the white flange is that I prefer being able to see if there is any milk coming out as I am pumping and with the white flange you cannot see anything so it becomes a bit of a guessing game.

My Final Thoughts: This is a fabulous pump for at home! I love using this pump when baby is nursing on one side. It is comfortable to use, it has great suction and it is super easy to clean and assemble!

Purchase It: The Tommee Tippee breast pump along with their other amazing products can be purchased at Target, Babies R Us, and Toys R Us.

Thanks for the honest information! I think I would have the same concern with time during a work day, it does sound like a perfect solution for use while nursing like you said!

  2. I will pass this to a friend of mine. Great review!! I never knew they had a breast pump.

This would probably work great for us. I haven’t had many times where I needed to pump when I was away from baby, but wanted to pump to help get up (my very lacking) milk supply!
    Thanks for the informative review!
