Brave Woman ~ Have You Taken the Pledge? #CBias #BraveWoman

Being a brave woman can mean so many things…there are millions of brave women in this world who face various situations each and every day. Brave Woman is a grassroots movement to shift personal and public perception of women facing domestic violence situations from a victim mentality to one of courage and strength. The main goal of Brave Woman is to create a world community that will support the difficult decisions involved in creating a new life of safety, healing and independence as well as making sure the community is aware of the presence of domestic violence and its impact on families.

There are two women in my family that have suffered, survived and have been Brave Women in domestic violence situations. My sister is one of those women. She was in an abusive marriage for several years. During those years there were times we saw bruises on her legs the size of baseballs but no matter what we said to her she wouldn’t leave. Her entire marriage was a very scary time in our family because we always worried about her. I thank God that she got the courage to get out of that situation and is no longer the victim of domestic violence. She is a brave woman in my opinion. I do not know what it is like to be the victim of domestic violence and I thank God everyday that my husband isn’t an abuser. I can imagine that would be a very difficult time in one’s life and to get the courage to leave is even more difficult. The women who get that courage need a mountain of support and I am so happy that things like Brave Woman are around to provide this support. I encourage you to take the Brave Woman Pledge today and be a part of that support system that so many women need. This pledge starts out by saying that you “will honor and respect brave women and children who tackle the difficult journey of change from domestic violence to a new life”. I’m taking the pledge today, won’t you join me?

The shared vision of Brave Woman is that every woman and child will have the supportive resources they need to live without fear in their homes and see themselves as courageous victors, free from family violence. Be a part of a great movement and support other women who need it. Take the Pledge today and be the support someone else needs!
