My Baby is ONE!

I am very late writing this as you turned one about 2 weeks ago! We’ve been so busy though and I don’t even know if I am going to be able to accurately express how much you are doing and how you are growing. Let me try…

You’ve been holding onto things and walking for about two months now. Four days after your birthday you took your first steps alone! You were (of course) walking to daddy – your favorite person! You took about five steps and then fell down. We cheered and cheered and you started clapping and laughing yourself. It was an absolutely adorable moment. Every day since then you have walked more and more. We went to visit Granddad and Nana less than a week later and the walking wouldn’t stop! You have SO much room at their house and you just kept going and going! It was amazing! You also love to climb the stairs at Nana and Granddad’s house! You are so good at it but we of course stay right behind you making sure you don’t fall! You are now walking everywhere and when you fall you get right back up and keep going.

Your hair is starting to curl up on the edges. I think it’s adorable! Your brother’s hair did the same thing around a year old. You eat everything! I don’t think we’ve found one thing you don’t like. We don’t have to worry about you overeating either. When you are done, you open your mouth, stick out your tongue and the food falls right off your tongue. That’s our queue to stop feeding you! :) When you are hungry though, the whole world knows it! You are not quiet about it at all, you are very demanding. You also LOVE to feed yourself. You’d actually prefer that no one feed you but yourself. That can make for some messy meals!

You still aren’t saying many words, but I am sure that will come soon enough! You are saying daddy, mama, Nana, uh-oh and a few others. You are also going through a stage right now where you like to copy others. If daddy does something like putting his hand over his mouth to make noise, you do the same thing. If someone sticks out their tongue, you do the same thing. If we dance, you dance. If we rock back and forth, you do the same. If we clap our hands, you clap yours! It’s super cute!

We also went swimming a few weeks ago and you are a total water baby! You were so happy in the water and you are kicking your feet and arms like you knew how to swim. You laughed and jumped up and down in my arms and got so excited!

Your laugh is contagious and the most adorable thing ever! Your smile brightens the world with those dimples, your innocence and your gorgeous brown eyes that light up. You smile at everyone and are willing to go to about anyone. You are a super friendly baby. (you’ve even tried to go to strangers in the mall and mama had to say no!) You have eight teeth, four on top and four on bottom with another two on bottom coming in soon.

I can’t believe you are a year old already. This time has gone by so fast! I thank God for you and for each and every day. There is nothing in the world better than waking up to seeing a smiling, happy baby and being the recipient of a child’s love. I thank you for brightening my days, for making our world a better place and for loving me!

Such a sweet letter!! I love the idea of writing to your child at certain ages and saving it….. I may have to steal the idea to make a scrapbook for my little one! :)
